The Psychosexual Control of Republican Politicians (Op/Ed)

While the Foley scandal boils on the front burner, two other sex scandals simmer towards the back. Each scandal is larger than the public knows, and the scandals may be interlinked. It appears that the Republicans have given new meaning to the term party discipline. Or as our first President from Texas once said, you should never trust a man unless you have his pecker in your pocket.

Hookergate, Gannon, and Congressional Pedophilia

Unless you are living under a rock, you are aware of the Foley Scandal (aka Pagegate) Unless the Earth is hit by an asteroid tonight, it will have become bigger by the time you read this. Rumors are swirling that more politicians will go down as a result of the Foley scandal – and not just for failing to assertively investigate the allegations.

The most damning assertions come from Wayne Madsen, a former intelligence agent who runs The Wayne Madsen Report. According to Madsen, Hastert himself has a checkered past with respect to suspicion of pedophilia:

Congressional sources told WMR that Hastert, while working from 1964 to 1980 as a popular history/government teacher and wrestling coach at Yorkville High School, in Yorkville, Illinois -- a suburb of Chicago -- was the subject of persistent rumors about inappropriate contact with male members of his high school wrestling team. The culture of the times usually resulted in such alleged behavior being covered up by public and parochial school authorities. However, the rumors were enough for his Yorkville constituency to reject him when he ran for an open seat in the Illinois House of Representatives in 1980.

Madsen also alleges that recent leaks related to the Foley case came from pissed-off investigators at the FBI and Department of Justice. Madsen says:

Justice Department prosecutors and FBI agents who are incensed that Attorneys General John Ashcroft and Alberto Gonzales covered up the House page scandal for political reasons. The back story of Pagegate is that there was a criminal conspiracy by the top political leadership of the Justice Department to cover up the predatory activities of Foley and other GOP members of Congress since at least 2003 and, likely, as early as 2001.

Looking for other potentially explosive allegations? Madsen said that Florida’s current Govenor (Jeb Bush) and the Republican candidate to replace Bush (Charlie Crist) both knew about Foley’s wrong-doings, and kept quiet for political reasons.

Gay Hookers in the White House

I corresponded with a rather religious fellow who was convinced that the Bush Administration filled ‘God’s White House.’ The Bushies came to power by the will of God, he said, and were carrying out God’s Will. The fellow apparently got a bit perplexed when I asked him why male prostitute Jeff Gannon Guckert made 200 visits to the Whitehouse. Maybe the pious workers in God’s White House were praying for his redemption, followed by a laying-on of hands? Immaculate Ejaculation?? I haven’t heard from him since.

The strangest thing about the Gannon affair (and one which suggests a link to all the other sexual strangeness with Pagegate) is the fact that the administration didn’t maintain the usual professional relationship with the hooker. Instead of setting boundaries and keeping to a fee-for-services business arrangement, they promoted him to political operative. Gannon, who had entered the White House under ‘press credentials’ actually started going to press briefings and asking softball questions designed to make the administration look good. It didn’t take long for the real press to start asking questions, and then they discovered that Jeff Gannon had a website advertising his services as a buff male escort who specialized in dressing up in military uniforms while giving 3rd arm salutes.

The simple truth is that a gay prostitute would not be given special access to the Whitehouse if his client was a low level bureacrat. Jeffy went there to service someone high up, some one whose time was too valuable and face was too familiar to allow them to go out cruising on their own. And then the high-ups adopted Jeff, and tried working him from inner sexual circle to inner political circle.

Hookergate

Hookergate is one term for a scandal which was made public through the investigation of San Diego Congressman Randy ‘Duke’ Cunningham. It involved Politicians, Defense Contractors, and Poker Parties. The poker parties are the kind that most men can only dream of: fine cigars, the exact type of booze you happen to like, and prostitutes selected to satisfy that particular hunger. All paid for by lobbyists and defense contractors.

The Hookergate scandal appeared to die down when Cunningham went to jail, but it also forced the resignation of Porter Goss. (Times Online) Goss was head of the CIA, and there were persistent allegations that both Goss his deputy Dusty Foggo were regulars at the poker parties.

Ed Rollins, a GOP strategist, predicted that as many as 15 Congressmen would be indicted as the hookergate scandal progressed. (Capitol Hill Blue) Although that hasn’t happened (yet?), the delay isn’t surprising if you believe that the scandal is being covered up, like Pagegate is.

Jack Abramoff is one of the more interesting figures in Hookergate. He claimed he was cooperating with investigators around the time he went to jail, although nothing has been heard of him since. Some people have suggested that Abramoff is like Pablo Escobar - the government had to arrest him, but his cell is larger and more luxurious than most people's house. I'm not so sure about that, but I would be surprised if he really spills the beans.

Reality Check

At this point, your are probably asking yourself how good the evidence is for all of the allegations that are out there. Good question. The evidence that there are 3 scandals is undisputable. But the full spread of each scandal is unknown, and it can be difficult to separate the credible allegations from the baseless rumors. Was the head of the CIA really involved in sordid corruption, or did he resign because it looked bad? Dunno. But he resigned. Did someone high up apply political pressure to stop a pedophilia investigation? Maybe, although a plausible alternative is that the FBI was simply innept, or they didn't have enough evidence and weren't that interested. No one has come forward with indisputable evidence that the Republican Party is controlled by a secret society that engages in weird sex to control its members. It may just seem that way.

It’s your job as a citizen to read what’s out there and vet the reliability of the sources.

Personally, I lean towards believing that the scandals are linked as part of a larger, more ominous pattern. The resemblance between certain Republicans and the cross-dressing, phone-tapping J. Edgar Hoover are too eery to dismiss outright, even if there is no smoking gun or semen stained dress uniform to prove it. But the degree of party discipline seen in the current group of Republicans is unprecendented, and their leaders have proven amazingly good at determining which emotional buttons to push in the body populus. I personally think that the Republicans use sex for boosting their group dynamic in the same way that athletes use steroids to boost their physical abilities. In the short run, the opposition can’t compete, but in the long run, the doper's destroy their own mind and body.

Take the case of Tony Snow, the White House Press Secretary. Early in the scandal, he dismissed Foley’s behaviour as merely ‘naughty emails.’ When a Congressman in his 50s sends a message to a 15 or 16 year old in a boarding school, and the Congressman types something about the students one eyed snake, it is sick, not a little naughty. Tony sipped the kool-aid. Tony swallowed.

Perhaps I’m just being paranoid. Maybe all of these scandals are completely independent, and the wave of poor judgement and mis-statements we have witnessed has no cause. If history proves me wrong, I will apologize and eat my tinfoil hat. Right after I fix the pressing social problem that our President recently spoke of: "too many OB-GYNs are not able to practice their love with women across America." No, it's not me. Its them.

Are all Republicans in Washington corrupt? No, I’m not saying that. I believe that many Republicans are decent people who steered clear of it. But a dangerous number of them are in up to their elbows. But there does to seem to be a powerful Republican 'good old boys network' where naughty friends reward each other with all kinds of favors.

Final Thoughts

What bothers me about these scandals isn’t the sex. It’s the sickness of the sex.

While a libertarian or liberal might argue that sex for money isn’t always wrong, it can make a person susceptible to blackmail … “vote ‘yes’ on Bill 123 or your spouse and conservative constituents will soon know exactly what you did with that hooker.” Maybe there was never any blackmail per se: the shared sex was used to create a social bond, which also gave each participant a good reason never to dump on the others in public.

The idea that our defense decisions are affected by which contractor or lobbyist got which politician blown (or tied up and spanked) doesn’t sit well with a lot of people. Get your jollies, Mr. Representative, but don’t mix your pleasure with the people’s business.

The fact that a pedophile congressman became the leader of the committee that protects missing and exploited children is weird and wrong. The fact that they get religious conservatives to turn up and vote with emotional pro-family and anti-gay ‘issues’ while their ranks include so many spinsters, bachelors, and closeted gays is also creepy. The fact that they preach ‘family values’ while they visit paid sex workers also suggests a hypocrisy that just might involve flawed character.

sexual control of politicians - help wanted

Sexual repression is a destructive phenomenon. Letting others control or harness the libido while building shame is a good recipe for eliciting cult-like dependence and compliance. Even sexually dominant people who enter into this devil’s bargain end up becoming submissive to the cult when they step outside of the carefully arranged sexual theatres. Yet that is where America finds itself today: a large slice of her politicians have traded their integrity for perverted sexual pleasures. It's time to cut them loose.
