The mainstream video rental shops don't carry much erotic fare, and probably never will. There are two places in my town that do carry adult movies, but those are not convienent, and one is in a seedy neighborhood. The solution? Adult rentals by mail. Build a wanted list of videos online, get them sent in a discreet envelope, watch them, and drop in the prepaid envelope so they will send me another on my list.

I am currently trying out a rental service called The Wanted List. I did my homework, and weighed the reccomendations of people online that I know and respect. Then I took the plunge and signed up for Wanted-List's subscription service.

Wanted List has the largest selection of any of the adult rental services (currently over 15,000 titles). A large selection is key for a service like this ... when I hear about something that sounds really good or interesting, I want to be able to watch it. I am particularly interested in something that will not totally disgust my wife - she is fairly open minded towards erotica, but the simple fact is that most adult movies are written for men to wank, and few females really enjoy something without a plot. So the size of the selection is important - if they have almost everything, they will have what I want.

Other clues that The Wanted List is worth subscribing to: a recent article in Wired Magazine, that described it as the Netflix of Porn, and back to back top-dog awards from AVN, the adult industry trade group.

So far, so good with my Wanted List trial. I'll be updating on it from time to time, and posting reviews of the better movies.
(Update after a month - overall, good. One disk arrived broken. I reported it, and was sent my next choice immediately. One minor mix-up on titles - I ordered one title that had 'kama sutra' in the title, and got a different movie that also had kama sutra in the title. But overall, a good experience.)

I went with the 2 disk at a time plan, which is $18 a month. That works out to as much adult fare as I have time to watch, at $3 a pop.
